My targets are Palm tree rounds. Palm wood is soft, so the knife sticks easily. Palm also lasts fairly well when you only throw knives. I can get about 3 months of regular, three times a week, throwing before I need to replace the rounds. I mounted the rounds with 6" lag screws which I screwed in from the back so I wouldn't hit any metal with my knives. The other piece of wood that you see in the middle of the targets is Eucalyptus. It's a harder wood that I use to "catch" tomahawks. As you know, tomahawks really tear up a target quickly. The harder Eucalyptus holds up much better than the Palm when you are throwing tomahawks. Also, since I have a narrow throwing alley I mounted my targets on a gate like affair that swivels out of the way when I'm not throwing. (The old guy in the photo is me.)
