Outdoor Targets
from Chuck Fogarty
2 Redwood burls mounted on some 2x6s -- San Mateo, California
A few Pepper Tree rounds resting against a 2X4 background at my
son Mark's home in San Diego.
This target has nine tree rounds resting on a 3'X 4' plywood box.
The bottom rounds are large and have flat bottoms so they won't move and
the other rounds rest on them. No nails or screws are necessary because
the rounds are all about 1 foot long and are quite heavy.
I have 6 hawks in the target. The top 2 are handle up from 1 1/2 turn
throws, the other 4 are handle down from a 1 turn. Several knives are
there and 3 of my atlatl darts are standing on the right side of
the target along with a homemade walking stick on the left side.
Don't I wish this was my target! A wall about 50' long made up
of at least 1,000 logs stacked on each other.
Rich Enright and I threw there for 2 hours in Encinitas, CA
(near San Diego) at a metal working shop.
3 Oak and Pine burls mounted on a sheet of plywood
-- La Grange, Illinois.
200 - 2x4 ends mounted in a 36" X 39" frame with a couple of
spacers -- Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Here is an "Exotic if temporary" target in Stuart, FL.
It's a 12ft. windsurfing board my host had found abandoned under
his pier.
It took me 2 weeks to destroy both sides.
This is my new Indiana target made by Jeff Secrist (pictured with me).
Jeff is throwing with me now and can't get enough throwing! He wants to
contact other Indiana throwers and have some friendly contests.
This was a temporary target but it has a special use. The target has a 2 foot
differencefrom the top to the bottom due to the slant. When I measure 8 feet
from the bottom I also measure 9 feet from the middle and 10 feet from the top
giving me 3 targets in one.
If I go back to 12 feet I measure 12 feet at the bottom, 13 in the middle and
14 feet at the top. This target will be long gone by the time you read this
but it was alot of fun telling you about it.
This is a pic of me practicing the atlatl off of a balcony
in Parker, CO. The target is... "The Earth Below."
Here is me practicing the atlatl at "the farm" in La Grange, IL.
The building behind me is where my indoor targets are set up!
