Hello, my name is Ron Thomas. And if you're reading this, we have a great sport in common. Recently, myself and Tim Jester have formed HAKS (Houston Area Knife Stickers) to serve as a communications tool and promotional organization for our favorite past-time. I will be adding a Yahoo Group and Calendar shortly to better facilitate our needs. I wanted each of you to have contact information for HAKS, my (Ron Thomas) contact information, Tim Jester’s contact information and, as updates come out, contact information for the person hosting the gathering on any given day/month. Currently, the gatherings are happening twice a month, starting at my house as I have the target setup for each type of throw. Tim Jester, the HAKS Co-founder, also has targets set up and may be hosting at his house soon. We have a couple of other throwers that are interested in setting up ranges at their houses and may also host some of the gatherings. As to what days these events take place, we get together on the first and third Sunday of each month. We are trying to meet around 1pm to get started, as there is limited daylight this time of year. As we get more daylight, we may move the start time to later, say 3ish. My range has lighting, so we can throw into the evening hours if we run long. We usually throw until we decide to quit or go and get food. This gives us about 3 to 5 hours of throwing for the group. The next gathering is this Sunday, 1pm at my house. Some of you have expressed an interest in sharing rides as many of you live quite a ways from me, so I have given those interested contact information about the other parties. Please feel free to call me directly if you need a ride or need assistance in getting here. There are enough of us to usually overcome most problems about transportation, and between us we have enough things to throw for an entire army, so if you don't have knives, don't sweat it. If you have general questions about HAKS, or you have people that find out about throwing and are interested in joining us, please have them email us at HAKSInfo@yahoo.com. We will provide them with all kinds of great information, even if they are not from this area. There are throwers all over the world, and we can get them hooked up with someone local for lessons, advice or just for some throwing fun.
