Today 7 out of 10 adult Americans belong to at least one association. There are now more than 123,000 national International regional, state and local associations. These associations bring like-minded people together to learn to improve their craft, teach their craft to others, as well as provide a forum to bring them together for the exchanges of ideas to continuously improve their respective crafts. The International Knife Throwers Hall Of Fame Association (IKTHOFA) provides a positive influence and professional service to it’s membership and its current sole purpose is to establish standards for which professional knife throwers can be ranked. Click Here for more info on testing for the IKTHOFA Ranking System The IKTHOFA has boosted attendance in every major competition taking place in the US and they are even working on attending throws in other countries as well, like Germany and Brazil. The IKTHOF Association supports other knife throwing organizations whenever possible. One of the ways they do this is by attending as many other events as possible. What better way to show your support for a club then by joining up and taking part in the events they put on? Another great way to show support is just by telling others how much fun you have had taking part in these events. I refer to this as 'Spreading The Addiction' :-) The IKTHOFA has gone out of its way to help our sport grow. This year the club will provide the targets for the Claremore, Oklahoma throw and they will also set up a place for people to test for the IKTHOFA Ranking System at the events taking place in Claremore, OK - Atlanta, GA - Malakoff, TX - Creede, CO - Netcong, NJ and of course Austin, TX. They will also provide the banners in Oklahoma for the WWAC/PKT venues such as Gun Spinning, Whips, Ropers, Trick Riding and of course Knife Throwing. It takes quite a bit of time, dedication and money to do these things. I have the utmost respect for the people behind this organization and what they are trying to do for us. The IKTHOFA has introduced many students to the sport and has taught them how to throw safely and effectively. Some members even put on demonstrations, and offer seminars to teach others interested in learning how to throw. According to Mr. Bainton, Founder and Executive Director of the IKTHOFA, "Our members showed up last year in record numbers to most of the throws the different clubs sponsored. It is important for us to support all the different knife throwing clubs if we want this sport of ours to grow. Our association would be pleased to add you to its membership, as it continues to improve the communication, education and recognition of all knife throwers around the World." I always enjoy promoting clubs and people that are dedicated to making things better. So I am doing my best to help this club grow and gain more members who enjoy this sport and want to see it grow to its full potential like I do. Throwing knives isn't just a side show circus act, we are a legitimate sport and I can't wait til everyone sees us as such!!!
