When it comes to throwing knives, you get what you pay for. The cheaper the knife, the more useless it usually is... trust me. The cheaper throwing knives are always smaller and very light. They usually bend or break after a bit of abuse. For serious knife throwing and/or distance, you need a professional size throwing knife. At least 12" in length and weighing at least 10 to 12oz. I don't throw any knives under 13.5". And some of the knives I throw are 16" in length. You can just lob the bigger, heavier knives at the target and they'll stick. It makes throwing for a couple hrs easy. (Try picking up a small stone and throwing it non stop for a few hours... your shoulder and elbow will be hamburger meat! The same thing will happen if you're throwing shorter/lighter knives). The longer your knife is, the slower it will turn so it is easier to control. The shorter the length of your thrower, the faster it will turn, and that makes it more difficult to control. The smaller knives aren't good for anything beyond about 12 or 15ft. They are just too light. You also have to really "heave" them to get them to cut thru the air and that is alot of extra strain on your shoulder and elbow after a while. Your arm will be sore in no time throwing lighter knives. You can also do some damage to the sockets/joints in your throwing arm. In my opinion, the Dragon Knives are the highest quality, least expensive commercially made throwing knives on the market. That's why I sell them :) And they are 100% guaranteed for life. If they ever bend or break ever, just return them for new ones. Here are my thoughts on both of them: PRO TARGET DRAGONS The Pro Target Dragons are great for full spins. But they aren't that great for 1/2 spins. (They can be thrown this way of course but its a bit more difficult because of the shape of the point.) They are just a bit heavier than the other 13.5" Dragon knife so they seem to cut thru the air a bit more. I have more luck with these knives if I'm trying to be consistent but I know that that is just because of my throwing style. Using the Pro Target Dragon Knife, I throw 1 spin from 12 feet and 2 full spins with from about 20'. 3 spins from around 27-28'. (I have seen other people throw them from as far 68', about 5 or 6 spins) http://www.throwzini.com/protargdragdesc.html THE 13.5" DRAGONS This knife is a great handle thrower and blade thrower! You can throw it by either end without making much of an adjustment in your grip. I throw 1/2 spins from 8 feet and 1 1/2 spins with this knife from 15'. 2 1/2 spins is about 21-22'. http://www.throwzini.com/13_5dragdesc.html But your distances will vary unless you throw exactly like me... and have arms as long as mine etc. If you want a knife you can throw by the handle or the blade, I would suggest the 13.5" Dragons. (I've also heard about this knife being used to win a couple long distance events in Las Vegas) If you want a knife strictly for full spins (1,2,3,4 etc) then I would go for the Pro Target Dragon. I seem to be more accurate with this knife too. Probably because of the little bit of extra weight? Keep in mind this is an investment on equipment you will be able to use for the rest of your life! And anyone can learn how to throw. Your family, friends, kids, grand kids etc. Its really a great backyard sport/hobby to have! Beware of flying metal!!!
