1. What's New

Hello Throwers!

I have lots to share so there just isn't time for any of my usual charm and charisma to come flying out at you. Straight to the info :-)

UPCOMING EVENT

2005 WWAC/IKTHOFA EAST COAST NATIONALS
This event is taking place in Netcong, New Jersey coming up in July. I was at this event last year and it was a riot! This event is part of the WWAC (Wild West Arts Club) so there are quite a lot of things to do besides throwing knives and hawks. You can watch whip artists perform, gun spinners, trick ropers and more!

For more info just visit the UPCOMING THROWING EVENTS
section of this page: http://www.throwzini.com/events.html

WE NEED YOUR HELP! NEW THROWING CLUB NEEDS A NAME!
From Todd Abrams (aka 3 Speed)

Due to recent local interest, I've decided to put together an LA throwers group. This club is going to be a bunch of local wing-nuts that get together from time to time to goof off and have fun. But I'm strapped for name ideas. Here are a few ideas we have had so far:

'LA Casting' (Sounds right for this town, doesn't it?)
'Slingers of the West Coast'
'Hollywood Hurlers'
'Los Angeles Blade Slingers - LABS
'Greater Los Angeles Steel Slingin' Group - GLASS Group

Whomever can come up with the clever and interesting name that winds up getting adopted by us, will receive a rare collectors edition, uh... something-or-other, (OR maybe just a big thank you and plug to you in The Great Throwzini Newsletter). I'll figure the prize out later :-)

Thanks to all for your brain power and help in this matter! Please email all ideas to sgracia@wi.rr.com and be sure to include your name and address.

Thanks much!

Todd Abrams (aka 3 Speed)

Well thats all for now friends! Keep the pointy end down range, beware of flying metal, don't throw rocks in um... plastic houses and most definitely... don't eat yellow snow! :-)

AND HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DAD'S ON THIS LIST!

ONLINE TOURNAMENTS
By Scott Gracia

Hello My Fellow Knife Flingin' Target Smashers :-)

What I'm about to explain to you is an idea taken from a place called The Thrower List. The Thrower List is a tool that helps like minded people share thoughts and ideas about a certain topic, like knife throwing. This is how it works:

When someone signs up for this list, and posts a message, everyone else who belongs to the same list will get that message. So lets say I just learned a new game, or figured out a great target design, or found a new throwing knife for sale and I wanted to share it with other people interested in knife throwing. All I would have to do is send 1 email to "the list" and everyone else on the list gets the message. Its fast, its efficient, and I have learned a 'buttload' (technical term) of throwing info from being a member!

So anyway, a while back someone who was signed up for the list had an idea. It was either the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame Founder, Mike Bainton from Austin, TX, or it was Bill Page, founder of Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts Center in Montgomery, Alabama.

Since I don't know for sure who had the original idea, I will let these guys figure it out themselves :-) I just want to give proper credit to the person who originally had the idea because the one thing I am sure of, is that I had nothing to do with the idea :-)

Anyway, whoever started the "online tournament" thought it was too bad that most people couldn't attend an actual event due to how far away the event was, or because they couldn't get enough time off of work etc. So the idea was to have an "online tournament" hoping more people could take part.

Since this happened, there have been quite a few tournaments on the Throwers List and it has been alot of fun! So I figured I would steal, I mean borrow, their idea and try to get all of you in on some backyard fun! This is a great way for all of us to "throw together" even though we are spread out all over the world.

No trophies, No prizes....the only thing you can win is bragging rights! Here are the directions if you would like to get in on the first ever 'Throwzini Online Knife Throwing Tournament':

*Everyone will throws 50 knives from a minimum of 8 feet and 50 knives from a minimum of 12 feet.

*Use any knife up to 16 inches long and use any type of throw from either distance (half spins, full spins or no spins.) Just be sure not step over the line. (Note: I would throw a 1/2 spin at 8 feet and a full spin at the 12 foot line but feel free to throw however you like!)

*Use standard target dimensions of a 2.5 inch center (3 points), an 8 inch ring outside of that (2 point) and a 16 inch ring (1 point) outside of that. This makes the highest possible score 300 points for this contest.

Email your scores to me by July 15th and I will post the results for all to see!

Remember, the only prize being offered is bragging rights so be honest. If I get 200 emails from people all saying they scored 298 points, I'm going to know something 'smells funny in Dodge' so please be truthful about your scores. If there is a big enough interest shown in this it could turn into a monthly event! This time it is 8 feet and 12 feet. Maybe next time we will throw from 15 feet and 18 feet... or 36 and 40 feet :-)

Thats it! Just mark your distances, grab your knives, and throw them. Oh and be sure to keep track of your scores too! You can throw 1/2 spins, full spins or 'no spins' from each distance. Just let me know how many spins you threw when you send in your score.

All results will be posted on the Throwzini Site so be sure to include your name, city and state and even the type/length of knives you threw if you like.

Send all info and results to me at sgracia@wi.rr.com and I'll get the results posted!

Thanks a bunch to everyone for listening and taking part in this new knife throwing adventure!

Beware of Flying Metal!!!
