The 1st of March will be set up and practice. The 2nd will be the qualifying and the main accuracy events and more. The 3rd will be for specialty events (like the speed Throw, Obstacle Course and new Quick Draw event) and the Banquet. The 4th is informal range time and sport. In addition to Accuracy there will be other challenging specialty events: 1) SPEED - Most AKTA Regulation Knives stuck in 2 side-by-side target faces in 20 seconds. 8 ft line. Only knives still properly stuck at the end of 20 seconds count. Contestants may use a table to hold their knives in ready position to pick up quickly, but NO help is allowed from other people during the contest. 2) DISTANCE - PKT Rules - 5 Regulation (1/2 spin minimum) Throws from any distance. Must stick in the 16" target face chosen. Beating the farthest throw gets you another 5 throws and passage to the next round. Rounds continue until all throws are done in this method. 3) OBSTACLE COURSE - Custom Course with NO practice allowed for ANY participant in advance. Must stick the 8-12 throws in the targets as shown before the contest. Fastest time wins. 5 Second Penalty for each miss during the event. Only 3 knives allowed per contestant. All throwers must retrieve their own knives during the contest. 4) QUICK DRAW - Two competitors in each match must win TWO OUT OF THREE DRAWS to beat the opponent and move on to the next round. The two will stand on the same range as far apart as viable (targets #1 & #4). They will begin with a knife that MUST BE IN A SHEATH, (the sheath may be mounted behind the back or at the waistline). They must begin with their throwing arm straight out in front of them, parallel to the ground (so that it is fair no matter where the sheath is mounted). A starter will start the draw. The thrower must go from the arm held out, to the draw. The first one that sticks the knife into an EIGHT INCH CIRCLE wins that draw. Two out of three wins that match. Match winners go on to the next round. Entry fee will be $5 with the overall match pyramid winner taking all + a PKT Certificate. (The PKT Las Vegas will continue to operate with AKTA Nationally sanctioned rules plus the pre-stated PKT events that we did last year.) If you have a performance show, many agents come to the Vegas events to recruit. You are encouraged to register and perform a "Showcase Act" as well. These are 5 minute performances for the crowd and are a lot of fun. Lee and I have done it and have indeed gotten work as a result. We are preparing a color info pack for the event with more detail. Please e-mail us at Knifethrwr@aol.com with your name, mailing address and telephone number if you would like a packet sent to you. Take a look under www.wwac.com (under the convention link) for all the hotel and fee details. Bring your ropes, whips, and fast-draw gear as well as there are world championship events for all these disciplines there as well. You can also meet, play with and learn from the best performers in the world in all these arenas all week long! Western Clothing is preferred but optional. Please do not carry handguns openly in the hotel. Please email me directly for more information. Hope to see you all there!
